Core Measure Reporting for The Joint Commission

As an ORYX vendor, OneView is a single solution quality reporting platform that includes The Joint Commission’s eCQMs (Core Measures). Acmeware's OneView reporting solution allows MEDITECH hospitals the ability to support Joint Commission accredited and certified organizations in their quality improvement efforts. Acmeware has met the criteria for inclusion in the accreditation and/or certification (as appropriate) process and is included on The Joint Commission’s list of acceptable ORYX vendors.  Acmeware is committed to meeting future required criteria established by The Joint Commission.

Trust is the most important factor in determining an ORYX vendor partnership. MEDITECH Hospitals must place a significant amount of responsibility on the ORYX vendor and product. ORYX vendors are required to submit hospital measure data to The Joint Commission.  If the ORYX vendor fails to submit data, they put the hospital at risk of failing to meet The Joint Commission Accreditation requirements, placing the hospitals accreditation status at risk.

The Joint Commission defines an ORYX vendor as an entity composed of:

  • A set of process and/or outcome measures of performance;
  • Processes for collecting, analyzing and disseminating these measures from multiple organizations;
  • An automated database that can be used to facilitate performance improvement in health care organizations;
  • The ability to generate both internal comparisons of each participating organization's performance over time and external comparisons of performance among participating organizations.

Together they can be used to facilitate performance improvement in health care organizations. An ORYX vendor must be able to generate both internal comparisons of each participating organization’s performance over time, and external comparisons of performance among participating organizations.

Performance measures, quantitative measures used to evaluate and improve outcomes or the performance of functions and processes, are incorporated into The Joint Commission’s accreditation and certification process as part of the ORYX initiative. ORYX measurement requirements are intended to support Joint Commission accredited and certified organizations in their quality improvement efforts. Performance measures are essential to the credibility of any modern evaluation activity for health care organizations.

Acmeware's OneView product meets all the current criteria and is included on The Joint Commission's ORYX vendor list.

The criteria established by The Joint Commission’s Advisory Council on Performance Measurement, which is composed of nationally known experts in outcomes measurement incorporates five broad attributes for listed vendors, including:

  • Performance measure characteristics
  • Data collection and receipt
  • Data quality
  • Risk adjustment
  • Technical reporting requirements

As an ORYX vendor, Acmeware is expected to perform extensive data quality validation testing and address issues as part of the quarterly ORXY submission requirements. We are required to adhere to strict compliance criteria with the eCQM data to guarantee the QRDA Category 1 files (Hospital Clinical Data) accurately match what hospitals' MEDITECH electronic health record is capturing. Further validation requires aggregate electronic population (ePop)  files to be reported from OneView to The Joint Commission in order to confirm the Hospital Clinical Data being reported is accurate. We perform intensive integrity checking prior to The Joint Commission submission to guarantee the accuracy of the population details and totals.

Acmeware is committed to quality reporting by using OneView as a single integrated quality reporting platform to report measures to CMS, QualityNet and The Joint Commission.
